IDGA’s Social Media for Defense & Government Will Feature US Army, US Air Force, Nat’l Guard, Digg.com, GovLoop.com and More

IDGA’s Social Media for Defense & Government conference will feature industry leaders in the social media and technology, as well as representatives from the DoD and government agencies. The conference takes place January 20-22 at The Sheraton Premier Tyson’s Corner just outside of Washington D.C.

“This conference is essential for learning the ins and outs of social media in the defense and government space, hearing case studies and learning how to build online communities,” said Elliott Jones, Program Director at IDGA.

The DoD and government now realize that social media not only allows them to reach the public but can also be a valuable tool in connecting soldiers to their commanders. Rick Breitenfeldt, Chief of the Social Media Branch at the National Guard’s public affairs bureau was recently interviewed on Blog Talk Radio where he spoke about using Twitter as a communication tool during natural disaster or crisis, most recently during the Fort Hood massacre.
